MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
"That this Council, on foot of the issues raised at the recent Deputation by Canonbrook Residents Association regarding serious road safety issues at school times - with the full and united agreement of all elected representatives present, and noting that planning processes have begun or are underway in relation to school extension proposals - writes to the stakeholders involved requesting a meeting with elected representatives of this Area Committee and Council officials, to discuss fully and frankly all of the issues involved and to seek constructive, co-operative solutions to improve safety for students, parents, staff and residents. Those contacted should include the Principals, Parents Association and Board of Management Chairs of St Thomas and St Anne's National Schools and Lucan Community College, as well as representatives from An Garda Siochana and Canonbrook and Esker Drive residents."
REPORT:
Discussions are ongoing with the Department of Education representatives in relation to the development of permanent extensions to St Tomas's and Scoil Aine in advance of a lodgement of a planning application. The traffic issues highlighted above have been discussed with these representatives today and as the Department hope to lodge an application as soon as possible it is anticipated that a response to the traffic matters raised will be provided shortly.
