QUESTION NO. 25
QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole
"To ask the Chief Executive to examine the Junction 4a exit onto the N4 (before Spa hotel entrance travelling from Dublin City) has been the scene of many accidents over the last few years. Part of the problem is that the junction currently only has a yield sign when motorist are joining N4 sliproad. Could the Council consider replacing the yield sign with a stop sign. Many Lucan residents believe a stop sign may reduce the likelihood of accidents at this location?
REPLY:
The yield sign and road layout are designed and provided in accordance with established design guidelines published by the National Roads Authority. During the design and construction process safety audits were carried out which included a safety audit carried out shortly after the road was opened.
An Garda Síochána have not indicated this location as a significant locus for accidents. In any event the maintenance and upkeep of this slip road is a meter for the National Roads Authority.
