QUESTION NO. 11
QUESTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
"To ask the Chief Executive to investigate the speed of traffic coming from over the N4 bridge at Woodies and turning left for Lucan village; to examine what measures can be put in place to slow down traffic as it is turning for the benefit of pedestrians and also to facilitate access for residents living in Esker Lane as the yellow box on its own is not proving sufficient to allow residents to enter and exit this cul de sac?"
REPLY:
In light of infrastructure improvements in recent years it is proposed to examine that section of Lucan Road close to the Woodies junction with a view to improved vulnerable road user safety consistent with better traffic movement. The configuration of the lane markings will also be assessed in order to reduce excessive speed
At the junction of Lucan Road and Grange Castle Road pedestrian crossing signals are provided within the signal controlled junction. The signals also give rise to gaps in the flow of traffic towards Esker Lawns which together with the yellow box assists movement into and out of Esker Lawns.
