QUESTION NO. 28

QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

"To ask the Chief Executive to arrange site visits to current building sites within Lucan and witness first hand site workers not following H&S regulations, frequent blocking resident’s access and littering areas surrounding the construction sites. As there are plans for multiple developments within Lucan over the coming years adherence to regulations, bye laws and development stipulations need to be enforced by the Council?"

REPLY:

SDCC Building Control staff regularly visit all building sites throughout the county. It is not the responsibility of Building Control staff to enforce Health & Safety Regulations. If we see something wrong we report it to site management. If they fail to act, we advise them that we will report the matter to the Health & Safety Authority.

Please forward photographs with Car Registration numbers clearly visible with specific reference to which site the blocking is occuring at.

You should send a seperate query to Environment section regarding litter.

Can you be specific regarding what Regulations and Bye-Laws you are referring to? We can then address and / or direct to the appropriate department.
