MOTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

To encourage the development of village markets especially seasonal times of the year.

REPORT:

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022 will promote the viability and vitality of the existing retail centres in the County. It is recommended to include a requirement in Draft South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016 – 2022 to support and encourage the setting up of seasonal and craft markets within public or privately owned spaces in established villages and towns in the County, with an emphasis on supporting local entrepreneurship, cultural diversity, an expanded range of retail businesses, and an increased availability of locally produced and manufactured products

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion is adopted.
