MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

Lucan Village

That this Council directs the Chief Executive to include appropriate policies, objectives and actions in the new Development Plan to promote and enhance the commercial viability, residential amenity and heritage of Lucan Village, including improved linkages to the Greater Lucan area; and to further strategically review the zoning of all currently-built areas in Lucan Village, including those north of the river, with a view to identifying how vacant sites could be regenerated, while ensuring that there is no extension of the existing built footprint of the Village.

REPORT:

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022 will seek to promote the viability and vitality of the existing historic centres in the County. It is considered that a specific land use zoning for historic villages will allow for the inclusion of specific policies and objectives that recognise and support the unique character and function of these centres.

Recommendation

It is recommended that the motion be adopted.
