MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

Cathaoirleach's Business;

That this Committee agrees that the Council consider a provision for certain categories of homeless families (such as recovering drug users and families with children) to be included on the homeless list despite not being in emergency accommodation where appropriate evidence is provided and where appropriate emergency accommodation is not available.

REPORT:

Homeless Services are delivered on a regional basis with Dublin City Council as the lead authority.  There is an agreed protocol across the Dublin region that only applicants actually accessing and residing in emergency accommodation through their local authority may be included on that Council's Homeless Register.
