MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

That bicycle parking facilities within new developments reflect the increase in cyclists and provide for security of same.

REPORT:

The current development Plan does not contain a set rate for bicycle parking. However set rates have been applied via a number of local plans, such as Local Area Plans and Strategic Development Zone Planning Schemes. These rates are based on best practice guidance. These rates should be further developed in discussion with the national Transport Authority and provide the basis for a set of County wide standards.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
