MOTION NO. 189

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

 Western Orbital Road

That this Council directs the Chief Executive to include an updated objective in the new Development Plan for a strategic new western orbital link road to initially connect the N7 to the N4 (west of Lucan or Leixlip); and ultimately to connect to the N3; and to further consult with the Land Use Planning & Transportation SPC on this matter.

REPORT:

It is current development plan policy for a long term road objective for North-South Road – west of Adamstown SDZ linking N7 to N4 and on to Fingal. The analysis process undertaken as part of the preparation the County Development Plan 2016-2022 reaffirm the need for both orbital road and public transport routes within the County. This includes a demand for movements between employment and population centres to the west of the Outer Ring Road, such as Citywest, Grangecastle and Lucan. Such a route would effectively link the N4 and N7 and would be extended north of the County boundaries to further employment/population centres such as Leixlip and beyond.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
