MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins
That the Council directs the CEO to make adequate provision for the development of sustainable communities in terms of community facilities, public amenities and sporting facilities and pitches. And that adequate services and amenities are provided to existing communities.
REPORT:
The provision of community infrastructure is an important part of the delivery of sustainable communities and successful urban areas. South Dublin County Council will continue to support the delivery of community infrastructure through a range of plans and programmes including the County Development Plan.
The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022 will set out a spatial framework for the provision of a hierarchy of community facilities at county, district and local level based on the outcome of a needs assessment and having regard to the County Settlement Hierarchy. The Plan will seek to ensure that facilities are accessible and where appropriate are clustered to promote optimum usage. The South Dublin County Development Plan 2016-2022 will seek to set out a framework for the provision of community facilities at county, district and local level based on the outcome of a needs assessment.
Recommendation
It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
