MOTION NO. 262

MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

That the Council directs the Chief Executive to include a policy on the need to promote biodiversity by avoiding ‘grass only’ open space areas.

REPORT:

The County Development Plan will contain requirements relating to all aspects of the County’s Green Infrastructure and will incorporate eco-systems services and benefits and seek multi-functionality throughout the Green Infrastructure network. These requirements will seek multi-functional spaces based on the enhancement of the County’s biodiversity rather than replicating past trends of mono-functional spaces.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
