MOTION NO. 34

MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan

That the Council directs the Chief Executive to include a policy on the need for retirement/nursing homes, including within established residential areas.

REPORT:

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016 – 2022 will promote a greater variety and mix of dwelling types and dwelling sizes in all communities to promote a better mix of age groups and household formations within all communities. The Plan will also promote infill development within established areas that have stagnant or falling populations. It is envisaged that this will create opportunities for renewal in the older housing stock by creating opportunities for older residents to downsize and give rise to more sustainable age and family profiles over time.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
