MOTION NO. 28

MOTION: Councillor E. Higgins

That this Council makes strategic provision to, where practicable, house people in their own local area particularly where young families are reliant on grandparent support or where adult children wish to stay close to their elderly parents to provide day to day support.

REPORT:

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016 – 2022 will promote a greater variety and mix of dwelling types and dwelling sizes in all communities to promote a better mix of age groups and household formations within all communities. The Plan will also promote infill development within established areas. It is envisaged that this will create opportunities for downsizing, renewal of older housing stock and give rise to more sustainable age and family profiles over time.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion is adopted.
