MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

The County Development Plan will work with relevant partner organisations to increase the provision of electric charging points for electric cars across the county

REPORT:

In 2008 the Government launched the Electric Transport Programme with a target that

10% of the national road transport fleet be electrically powered by 2020.The Council aims to supports the Government’s Electric Transport Programme, which aims to assist Ireland in meeting EU targets on carbon emissions.

Include polices, actions and objectives in the Draft South Dublin County Council Development Pan 2016 – 2022 that set out to address overall renewable energy opportunities, including supporting the provision for electric vehicles on a Countywide basis, in conjunction with appropriate bodies.

Recommendation

It is recommended that this motion be adopted.
