QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney

"To ask the Chief Executive to provide details on the carrying out of the 2014-15 Arboricultural Programme for the area under the remit of this Committee, and to ask when it is proposed, given the work so far, to complete the programme presented to Councillors in November for winter works?"

REPLY:

The 2014-15 Tree Maintenance Programme for Rathfarnham/Templeogue/Terenure as presented at the November 2014 meeting of the Area Committee  has been in progress since November 2014 and will remain ongoing throughout the current year.  In previous years, work on the delivery of the annual Tree Maintenance Programme was suspended between March and November when staff assigned to tree maintenance during the winter period were reassigned to grass maintenance during the growing season.  In 2015, arising from the establishment of a skilled tree maintenance crew to operate on a year round basis, the delivery of the 2015 Tree Maintenance Programme will remain ongoing throughout.  It is planned to present a progress report on the current Tree Maintenance Programme to the April meeting of the Area Committee.
