QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
To ask the Chief Executive how much SDCC is currently paying for emergency housing accommodation, how many individuals/families are being assisted and how many more families/individuals are awaiting emergency housing accommodation?
REPLY:
Dublin City Council (as the lead authority) manage all expenditure in relation to Homeless Services on behalf of the 4 Dublin Authorities. In 2014, South Dublin County Council provided in its Budget a contribution of €1,118,000 in respect of homeless services.
As at 31st December 2014, South Dublin County Council had 234 individuals and families registered homeless and placed in Temporary Emergency; Supported Temporary or Private Emergency Accommodation through SDCC's Homeless Services Unit with a number of families assessed as at risk of requiring emergency accommodation.
