QUESTION NO.8
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Chief Executive to outline this Council’s plans to develop new allotments in 2015, including the locations under consideration?
REPLY:
Following on from the successful extension of the Friarstown allotments in 2014 and with the support of the LEADER Programme: a sum of €100,000 is included each year in the Capital Programme 2015 - 2017 to construct new allotment sites in the county to meet the current demand for allotments. The current position with allotment provision in the county is as follows:
Number of allotments in place |
|
Mill Lane Palmerstown | 73 |
Corkagh Park | 44 |
Tymon Park | 13 |
Friarstown | 303 |
Total | 433 |
Number of allotments occupied | 389 |
Number of people on the waiting list | 338 |
An analysis of the waiting list in the county is being undertaken to determine the site locations to be included in the proposed programme. The locations will be based on an analysis of the waiting list and will be included in an Allotment Strategy to be prepared and presented to the Elected Members shortly.
