MOTION NO. 8

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee, noting the decision of an Bord Pleanala on the revisions to the Adamstown SDZ planning scheme, calls on the Chief Executive to present a detailed report on the next steps and indicative timeline for delivery, in conjunction with developers and the Education & Training Board, of a new multi-functional Sports & Community Hall which would provide a much needed sports hall for Adamstown Community College as well as providing much-needed indoor space for sports clubs and community group in the Lucan & Adamstown area as called for previous motions passed by this Committee and recommended in the Lucan Community Initiative."

REPORT:

It is a positive development that the decision of An Bord Pleanala supported the proposal for a sports hall and community centre as set out in the amended Planning Scheme and as approved by the Planning Authority.  The relevant parties have been considering this decision.  The issue was raised at a meeting between SDCC and the ETB and the Council remains in negotiation with the Developers on this matter, but it would be premature to give an indicative timeline for delivery at this stage.
