QUESTION NO. 4
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Chief Executive for a report on plan to be implemented during 2015 to improve the energy efficiency of the public lighting in the County?
REPLY:
During 2014 Public Lighting (PL) section replaced exisiting low pressure sodium (SOX) with low energy LED fittings on a trial basis in some residentail areas within the county.A new LED PL Scheme was also installed on Greenhills Road, which has been operational since the beginning of 2015.
A proposal for a five year PL Strategy is currently being drafted which includes an LED upgrade/replacement programme for the county. This will assist in our requirement to reduce PL energy usage by 30% over 2009 levels by 2020, as currently set out by the Department of Communications, Energy & Natural Resources.
