QUESTION NO. 16

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive Officer to present a report, from all departments involved in the issues, in respect of the ongoing concerns of St Marks GAA Club Cookstown Road Tallaght which have be well documented over a long period ;and in reporting will he note the anxiety of the Club that these matters be effectively dealt with especially the question of the file now with our Law department?"

REPLY:

The Development section of the Council has dealings with St. Mark's GAA Club in relation to a number of matters including the regularisation of the boundary between the Club, St. Mark’s Community School and the Council’s lands, together with a separate arrangement with Shared Access Ltd.

The school lands are owned by the Minister for Education but subject to a lease in favour of the Trustees of the School. It is understood from officials of the Department that they have been liaising with the School Authorities in relation to the boundary issues which will likely involve a land exchange but that formal confirmation of the Trustees/Board of Management's position in relation to the matter is awaited.

In relation to the proposed licence agreement with Shared Access, the terms of which had been agreed some time ago, the file has been re-activated in the Law Department (previous file handler had left the Council) and an update in the matter will be notified to the legal adviser to Shared Access in the near future, with a view to bringing this agreement to completion.
