MOTION NO.1
MOTION: Councillor M. Devine
That two site meetings be convened at Glenview and Tamarisk Estate's to provide solutions to continual flooding and sewage problems which pose a serious risk to health and safety for these residents.
REPORT:
Tamarisk Estate
The foul sewer on Tamarisk Avenue was repaired in 2013.
Following a flooding incident reported at No. 2 Tamarisk Avenue in July 2014, further investigation in the area revealed that three deep drainage manholes were buried in the green space along Elmcastle Park. When these were located, they were raised to ground level.
In addition, the Drainage crew jetted the foul system within the confines of Ned Kelly Football Park and removed debris from the main which included several sewer rods and a 2.4m long fence post
It is believed that the above work should enhance system functionality in the future.
During the above mentioned works, the Drainage Team also noted that two road gullies on Treepark Road were misconnected to the foul system. The Roads Maintenance Section was advised of same and has committed to implement corrective action in the near future.
Glenview Estate
It was deternined last week (22nd Jan 2015) that the roots from a large poplar tree adjacent to the N81 interfering with a manhole on the 450mm diameter line and arrangements are being made to have the matter addressed soon as practicable. It is hoped that this will resolve the matter of system backing up, but it will be kept under review to ensure that there are no other possible legacy issues outstanding.
