QUESTION NO.7
QUESTION: Councillor D. Richardson
"Due to the increase of anti social problems in the County can the Chief Executive Officer report on what it is doing with the problem families that are causing the problems in the areas . We have a right as citizens to feel safe in our homes and areas. We need all services in the County to assist in combating this problem.
REPLY:
Following on from headed item 15 at the November Meeting of the Committee, the Council has been in discussions with both the elected representatives, local community and the Gardai in relation to a response to anti social behaviour in the county. It has been agreed to utilise the existing groups and structures in place and to this end further consultations will take place around the local Police Fora.
The Councils role in any response to anti social behaviour relates to our position as Landlord and breaches of the Tenancy Agreement. When breaches of the tenancy are detected, the Council will interview the tenant in accordance with our Anti Social Behaviour Policy. If the anti social behaviour does not cease following such inerviews, action, up to and including eviction will follow.
