MOTION NO. 13

MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin

Cathaoirleach's Business:

That the Chief Executive presents a report for discussion at the Committee outlining options and costs for the provision of additional car parking for residents in Boot Rd/Rockfield Drive estate.

REPORT:

Housing on Rockfield Drive and Boot Road Inner was built over 50 years ago and many of the residents have since invested in private driveways for their own use. Space on the public road is limited for parking but is sufficient to provide 1.5 spaces per house allowing for standard parking space lengths (or an access to a drive way in lieu of a space) on one side of the road only. This is similar to that provided in newer housing areas such as Adamstown. Additional parking at these locations would involve the use of open space land and is not recommended. It may be possible to provide some additional spaces in pockets alongside the open space but this would require the agreement of all householders whose enjoyment of the open space may be affected. The Council does not have the resources for such works in 2015.
