MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor B. Bonner
That this Committee commends the work that has been done on the roundabouts on the Neilstown Road. Could an outline be given of the plans for them in terms of planting and weeding and maintenance for the coming year.
REPORT:
The Neilstown Road roundabouts have been designed to provide a good standard of finish with lower maintenance requirements. The roundabouts have been planted up with a mix of perennial herbaceous plants, seasonal bulbs and specimen shrubs. The areas between the plants have been covered in gravel or pebble to suppress weeds.
There is some outstanding bulb planting to be undertaken on the Neilstown/Coldcut roundabout. This will be carried out in March/April as soon as the bulbs become available. Maintenance works thereafter will include weeding and replacement planting in the event of failures as the need arises.
