Cathaoirleach's Business:

This Committee welcomes the ongoing support by SDCC provided to Knockmitten United FC in their efforts to develop an astro turf pitch in Knockmitten Park. This Committee  supports the request by Knockmitten United FC for a long term lease from the Council on the old basketball court beside Knockmitten Community Centre.

REPORT:

The issuing of a lease is a reserved function of the Council. In order for such a matter to be considered it would be necessary for Knockmitten United FC to put forward a proposal for the proposed facility. The proposal should include details such as the project funding plan, location, pitch type, design details etc. Should planning permission be required, the Council would provide a letter of comfort if considered appropriate. If the proposal is considered to be viable then leasing options can be explored at that stage.
