MOTION: Councillor E. Ó Broin
Cathaoirleach's Business:
That this Committee welcomes the progress made in recent months on the Clondalkin Equine Project. In order to progress this project further this Committee urges the Chief Executive to consider locating the project on a portion of the lands adjacent to the R136 and the upper Nangor Road.
REPORT:
Ongoing discussions have taken place between the Elected Members of the Clondalkin Electoral Area and Council officials from a number of departments in relation to the Clondalkin Equine Club (CEC) proposal.
Council officials have met with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), have visited and held discussions with other statutory bodies and other horse projects ,and has drawn up rough costings based on the initial proposal.
The Council is committed to providing funding of €50,000 and DAFM has also indicated that it is willing to provide financial support as a contribution towards start up costs.
Following a meeting with Clondalkin Area Committee Elected Members on 19th December 2014, the Council has committed to examining a number of sites as possible locations for the CEC horse project.
It was also agreed that the CEC should provide an estimate of the expected running costs of the project and how the Club would expect to cover these.
