South Dublin County Council (SDCC) gave notice of its intention to review the existing South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2010-2016 and to prepare a new County Development Plan for the period 2016-2022 on Friday September 5th 2014. The review will take up to two years and will conclude with the adoption of the South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2016-2022.
Pre-plan consultation was undertaken over an 8 week period from 5th September to 31st October 2014 and the Chief Executive's Report on Pre-Plan Consultation was submitted to the members of the Planning Authority for consideration on December 19th 2014. The elected members have up to 10 weeks to consider the Chief Executive’s Report (plus 9 extra days to account for the Christmas period).
A Special Meeting of South Dublin County Council is scheduled to take place on Friday 16th February 2015 to consider the Chief Executive's Report on Pre-Plan Consultation and following consideration of the Report the members of the planning authority may issue directions to the Chief Executive regarding the preparation of the draft development plan.
Briefings have been scheduled for each Area Committee in January 2015. The purpose of the briefings is to provide an overview of the current stage of the review process, including important new provisions in relation to a “Core Strategy”, and is intended to assist members in advance of the Strategic Directions meeting that is scheduled to take place in February 2015.
A briefing for the Rathfarnham/Templeogue-Terenure area members is scheduled to take place immediately after the January OP&F meeting, at 6pm on 22nd January, in the Planning Conference room.
