MOTION NO 2.

MOTION: Councillor A-M. Dermody

"That the Councillors in the Rathfarnham area support Web Project for 2015 and that the Chief Executive confirm what financial support can be paid by this Council in supporting this much needed service in our community."

REPORT:

South Dublin County Council has supported the WEB project over a long number of years. The Library Services provides space within Whitechurch Library for the Project to be located and Community Services directly supports and is represented on the Board of Management of the Project.

The Board of Management submitted their annual business plan to Pobal in the middle of last year and were notified in early December that they were successful in securing funding from the Community Services Programme (CSP) to fund their 3 staff members for a further year. The Project has focussed its main attentions into providing a range of social and recreational support services to a number of local disability groups and clubs. These services include activities such as yoga, armchair aerobics, arts and crafts, basis community studies and music therapy.

The WEB project are also eligible to apply for funding assistance from within the Council's Community Grants Programme and have received some funds from our Community Grants in the past.
