QUESTION NO.16
QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
To ask the Chief Executive what the situation is in regard to applying for permits for Fireworks Displays within the County? Does SDCC have responsibility for this and if so, how many requests for permits does it receive each year? And how many are granted/denied?
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council has no role in the process of applying for permits for firework displays. In order to organise a fireworks display a licence to import fireworks must be sought from the Department of Justice and Equality. Once the licence is granted a person is allowed to import fireworks and operate a fireworks display in consultation with the local office of an Garda Siochana.
