MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

Monday, December 08, 2014

HEADED ITEM NO. 15

HEADED ITEM:

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION NETWORK (PPN) NOMINATIONS TO (i) LOCAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE and (ii) JOINT POLICING COMMITTEE

REPLY:

The newly established Public Participation Network (PPN) will assist the Council to communicate with Community Organisations operating in this County through its Secretariat and Linkage groups. The PPN is the mechanism the Council will use when selecting community representation for the Strategic Policy Committees, Joint Policing Committee and the Local Community Development Committee. It is intended the Network will facilitate communication, participation and representation of communities in a fair, equitable and transparent manner through the three sectors, environmental, social inclusion and community. The PPN will also provide relevant information and act as a hub around which information is distributed and received.

The PPN will act as a vehicle to gather feedback and input into policies and plans being developed by local authorities and other agencies if required, reflecting both areas of disagreement and, where there is no consensus, the range of views.

The following are the ratified community, social inclusion and environment pillar representatives from the PPN to the Local Community Development Committee and the Joint Policing Committee following the Plenary meeting held on 4th Dec. 2014.
