MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That this Committee requests the Council to prioritise the re-alignment of the Knocklyon Road as the number one roads objective of this committee area."

REPORT:

In recent years due to the economic downturn it has not been possible to secure funding for new non-national road schemes in the County (such as the Knocklyon Road Realignment), and it is difficult to predict when funding will be made available by the DTTS / NRA. In light of this and having regard to (i) the funding authority's function in assessing the relative merits of funding applications and (ii) the ongoing review of the county Development Plan, it is premature at this time to allocate priority to future Roads objectives
