QUESTION NO.10

QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

To ask the Chief Executive, noting the Council's progression of social housing projects through the part 8 process and also noting the timescale of quarter 1 2015 for advancement of these projects, can he estimate when the first social houses will be on the ground in south Dublin county?

REPLY:

In preparation for the increased funding for housing construction projects as announced in the Government’s Social Housing Strategy the Council plans to have a total of 500 homes approved under the Part 8 planning process by the second quarter of 2015. 260 of these have already being through the Part 8 process and submitted to the Department of the Environment Community and Local Government.

The Council has already received social housing funding for 3 schemes to build a total of 15 homes. Subject to approval of the tender process from the Department of Environment and Local Government, construction on all three schemes should commence in the first quarter of 2015 with completion by the first quarter of 2016.
