QUESTION: Councillor P. Foley
To ask the Chief Executive, are the council planning on having any drop off zones for Christmas trees this year? If so, where are they to be located? Traditionally what has been the cost of this service?
REPLY:
The Council will again be arranging to recycle Christmas trees in January 2015. It is proposed to run the programme from Tuesday 6th January to Friday 16th January 2015. It should be noted that this facility is for domestic household trees only and not for commercial operators. Signage will be placed at the various locations indicating that it is an official recycling point. One tree will be accepted per vehicle / household and trees can be dropped by members of the public at the following locations:

Beechpark open space
Sarsfield Park open space
Haydens Lane Car Park in Griffeen Valley Park
Foxborough open space
Palmerston
Glenaulin Park
Woodfarm Acres
Clondalkin
Corkagh Park (St Johns Road car park)
Corkagh Park (Green Isle car park at Caravan Park entrance)
Collinstown Park
Quarryvale Park
Foxdene open space

The cost of the programme varies each year depending on the number of trees presented for recycling. Typically the cost of the programme in recent years has been in the region of €30,000.
