QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

"To ask the Council to provide a report on requests to date for tree pruning/hedge trimming/grass cutting in Lucan and Palmerston outlining the areas that have still to be completed and completion dates for any unfinished areas?"

REPLY:

The Tree Maintenance Programme for 2014 was presented to the Lucan Area Committee on March 25, 2014. This programme of work which includes trees and hedges commenced in January 2014 and is undertaken in two phases. Phase 1 was completed January 2014 to March 2014. Phase 2 Winter 2014 commenced at the start of November. There are 117 trees to be completed from the 2014 programme. A full report detailing the Tree Maintenance Programme for Winter 2014 and for 2015 is presented as a headed item at this meeting. This represents the completion of outstanding works from the 2014 Arboricultural Programme with the addition of commitments given high priority for action during 2014 and tree works committed for the early part of 2015.

The grass maintenance programme has concluded for the current year as staff who cut grass during the growing season are now being reassigned to the delivery of the tree maintenance programme.  Grass maintenance will resume in spring when grass growth commences again.
