MOTION NO. 3
MOTION: Councillor E. O'Brien
"That the Chief Executive provide signs in strategic positions around Lucan Village advertising the availability of 30 minute free on street parking in an effort to increase footfall through the village."
REPORT:
A report on the ‘30 minute free parking period’ will be presented to the Transportation SPC. The report will include data on usage, parking availability, space turnover etc. Additionally the public and trading response to the initiative will be included.
In Lucan it is noted that parking space is at a premium and overspill parking is being experienced in residential areas due to reduced space availability. The lower turnover of space, as more motorists stay up to 30 minutes, is having a detrimental effect on footfall.
There are no plans to change current arrangements at this time.
