MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Councillor W. Lavelle

"That this Area Committee requests the Chief Executive to present a detailed report, for discussion, on efforts to secure a resolution to the ongoing saga in relation to the unauthorised removal in July 2013 of the grass verge at the corner at the entrance to Ballydowd Grove and replacement with a hard surface parking area; and further notes the ongoing serious concerns regarding road safety at this location due to poor visibility for motorists exiting Ballydowd Grove resulting from vehicles being parked on the hard surface."

REPORT:

There has been on going correspondence between the Law Agent and the solicitors representing those who are disputing the ownership of the area. Following the receipt of the most recent correspondence the Law Agent requested that maps be prepared for the area showing all the folios that make up the parcel of land. These maps have now been finalised and are with the Law Agent with a request that an early meeting be arranged to consider the Council's next course of action.  

In relation to the parking of vehicles on the hard core area at the entrance to the estate, the matter has been referred to the local Gardaí for their attention.
