COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 13
MOTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
"That this Committee calls on the Chief Executive to provide litter bins in the car park and at a number of other locations in Waterstown Park that will support those civic minded dog owners and other park users to dispose of litter and other waste. It is not acaceptable that a dog walker should have to carry dog waste for up to an hour in what should otherwise be a pleasant and healthy experience."
REPORT:
There are 2 bins in Waterstown Park. One is located in the car park beside the pedestrian path which leads out of the car park. The second bin is located in the vicinity of the exercise equipment. The bin in the car park can become obscured by cars parking in front of it and it is therefore proposed to relocate it to a more prominent location at the front of the car park.
Two additional bins will also be provided in the park at the east and west ends of the lower path in the vicinity of the Mill Race pedestrian bridges. As with all park furniture bins are prone to vandalism and therefore they will be installed in December on a trial basis. A review of the bins will be undertaken early in the New Year and they will be retained subject to them not being vandalised or abused.
