Cathaoirleach's Buisiness

That this Committee requests the Chief Executive to table a report for discussion at the Area Committee on the total allocation of funding for Tidy Towns in Clondalkin in 2014 and 2015 including how much money has been spent to date and how decisions will be made on expenditure for the remainder of 2014 and in 2015.

REPORT:

The allocation of funds to Tidy Towns groups in the Clondalkin area for 2014 is as follows:

Clondalkin Tidy Towns

• Grant                           €1,000
• Summer Competition     €1,200
• Biodiversity project        €  772        –    Local Agenda 21 funding
• Provision of container    € 553.50   – crane hire

Total                                 €3,525.50

North Clondalkin Tidy Towns

Tidy Towns trip to Drogheda & Malahide

Cost                                  €534.75

It has generally been agreed that any remaining funding will be allocated on the following basis:

Projects which promote and enhance the group’s performance under the list of Tidy Town criteria as follows:

•  Community involvement & Planning-60
•  Built Environment & Streetscape – 50
•  Landscape & open spaces – 50
•  Wildlife , habitats & Natural amenities - 50
• Sustainable waste & resource management - 50
• Tidiness & Litter control – 90
•  Residential Streets & housing areas – 50
•  Approach Roads, streets and lanes - 50

 The following general conditions will apply:

•  Register with Community department
• Hold bank accounts in the name of the group.  The Voluntary Non-Profit Making Organisations Registration Form must be completed by the group and returned to the Revenue Commissioners. On receipt of a Tax Reference Number, a copy of same must be submitted to the Community Services Department
• South Dublin County Council’s grant contribution must be acknowledged
• Groups should also contribute to project costs
• Evidence of expenditure, receipts /invoices must be retained and provided to South Dublin County Council as requested.

No decisions have been made on the allocation of funding for 2015 however a report in this regard will be made at an early date to the Community Strategic Policy Committee for consideration as part of the general review of the Council's community grant schemes and in the context of the introduction of a number of new initiatives and the increased funding that was allocated as part of the Annual Budget process.
