QUESTION NO.23

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the Chief Executive Officer to detail contact he has had with St Mark's GAA Club Cookstown Road Tallaght regarding their concerns about the state of the pitches and other issues?"

REPLY:

Issues relating to the pitches at St Mark's GAA Club have been dealt with by the Senior Executive Parks Superintendent who is based in Tymon depot during the early part of 2014.  While some direct meetings took place with the club early in the year it is not known what was agreed with representatives of the club, as the member of staff in question is currently absent from work on sick leave.  The matter will be taken up with him on his return to work.

Following consultations with the St Mark's Club the Council's Public Realm Section re-developed a football pitch for St Mark's GAA Club over the summer months and this re-developed pitch will be playable from early spring. In addition the Council has undertaken extensive fertilisation, cultivation, verti-draining and rolling of this pitch. A concrete surround and steps into the existing container serving the pitches has been constructed by the Council, as has a concrete apron at the gate which leads from the car park area to the pitches. It is acknowledged that repairs to the goal mouths of the existing pitch are required and these repair works will be undertaken in March/April 2015 when ground conditions are more favourable.
