QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny

To ask that the Chief Executive give an update on the number of horses impounded in the Clondalkin LEA and what cost to date has this been quantified to the the local authority?

REPLY:

In the period 1st January to 31st October 2014 inclusive, the contractor engaged by the Council for the provision and operation of a horse seizure service and horse pound facility seized and impounded 202 horses in the Clondalkin Electoral Area.

While it is not possible to provide a breakdown of the costs of the service on an area basis, I can advise that the cost of the service for this period for the County at large amounted to €183,420.94.
