QUESTION NO. 9
QUESTION: Councillor C. King
To ask the Chief Executive how many bonfires were recorded throughout the County during the Halloween period this year, how do these figures compare to the last two years and what is the likely cost of the clean-up of same when completed?
REPLY:
There were approx 348 bonfires across the county this Halloween, which is disappointing.
The cleanup, which is currently being costed, is being undertaken by depots on both sides of the Naas Road as follows:
In 2013 there were 378 bonfires.
In 2012 there were 373 bonfires.
The 2013 cleanup cost was approx €50,000 for the county and as we have c 30 fewer bonfires there should be a slight reduction in the cleanup costs.
