QUESTION NO.28
QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
"To ask the Chief Executive Officer to please indicate if there any any plans for the provision of additional housing units for senior citizens and eligible adults, along the lines of the units at Whitestown Way and to also indicate if FOLD Ireland has expressed an interest in any future developement of such units, in partnership with SDCC?"
REPLY:
The units at Whitestown Way are owned and managed by Fold Ireland, who are a Approved Housing Body. The development is subject to the terms and conditions of a mortgage from the Council and funding comes under the Capital Assistance scheme operated by the Department of Environment and Local Government.
We expect a new round of funding to be made available under the Capital Assistance scheme in early 2015. Fold Ireland and other Approved Housing Bodies can then make submissions to the Council for funding for projects that meet the housing needs of specialised categories of housing including older people, people with disabilities, homeless and the Travelling Community. The Council will approve and rank the schemes and submit a request for funding from the department for the approved projects.
