MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That South Dublin County Council will engage to Facilitate Directional signage with the Contractor at Newlands Cross and work with the Newlands Business Association to provide additional signage taking into account the new layout and increased risk of missing the proposed signs.

REPORT:

Following representations from local business, concern was expressed that the significance of Newlands Cross as a landmark location would be lost as it is not included as a destination on direction signage. To rectify this, additional signs have been included in the scheme. These signs indicate the interchange and its name “Newlands Cross”. The signs also indicate the services available, in this case tourist accommodation, food and fuel. The signs are placed on approach to the new exits from the N7 mainline.
