QUESTION: Councillor S. Holland

"To ask the Chief Executive to inspect the Lighting on the Whitechurch Road.  The Street lighting is sparse and the darker nights leave the road dark, spooky and deserted.

Is there any scope for adding extra street lighting - especially in the areas where the footpath veers away from the road and is hidden in behind bushes?"

REPLY:

The street lighting on Whitechurch Road is mounted on the ESB Distribution Network. These poles are due for an upgrade in the short to medium term under the ESB's LVU programme. Once these works have been completed, we will upgrade the public lighting accordingly.
