QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons
To ask the Chief Executive, what are the standards expected for a Council House and a rented House in South Dublin County Council?
REPLY:
The Housing(Standards for Rented Houses) Regulations 2009 set out the required standards for private rented dwellings. The local authority has responsibility for inspection for compliance with standards and enforcement.
The Housing Act 1966 as amended by the Housing Miscellaneous Provision Act 2002 and the Housing Miscellaneous Provision Act 2009 are the underlining pieces of legislation in relation to standards on Local Authority dwellings.
The DOECLG issued the following guidelines on the matter for Housing Authorities
