MAKING OF A LOCAL ECONOMIC COMMUNITY PLAN (LECP) INCLUDING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ADVISORY STEERING GROUP TO ASSIST THE PROCESS SUBJECT TO ISSUING OF FINAL GUIDELINES

The Local Government Reform Act 2014 states that each Local Authority shall make a 6 year Local Economic and Community Plan for
The community elements of the plan will be prepared by the Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) and the economic elements of the plan will be prepared by the Local Authorities Strategic Policy Committee for Economic Development and Enterprise. The Local Economic Community Plan, integrating the economic and community elements, will be adopted by the local authority.
Draft guidelines have been issued which state in order to ensure that the preparation of the economic and community elements of the Plan can be co-ordinated and duplication avoided, each local authority shall establish an Advisory Steering Group to assist in the preparation, drafting, adoption and making, publication and monitoring of the economic and community elements of the plan.
The advisory steering committee shall comprise of:
At least one member of the Local Community Development Committee
At least one member of the Economic SPC for Economic Development
Chief Officer LCDC or nominee
Director of Service (Economic Dev) or nominee
Other person or person both the SPC for Economic Development and the LCDC consider necessary.
The approval of the Council by resolution to make a Local Economic Community Plan and establish an advisory committee as outlined is required. The resolution is subject to the final guidelines from the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
