COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, October 28, 2014
MOTION NO. 17
MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
"That this Council, in responding to an upsurge of complaints about antisocial behaviour, including drug taking in Hermitage Park, in plain view of houses facing onto the Park in Ballyowen and Hermitage estates; reviews its policy and operation within existing opening hours and resources to further discourage such behaviour; and liaises with An Garda Siochana to seek additional visible patrols at evening times and especially during the summer months, especially the very effective Garda Mountain Bike Units."
REPORT:
The Council is not aware of any particular upsurge in anti-social behaviour in Hermitage Park or drug taking. However, the Gardaí have advised that an increase in anti social activities tend to coincide with the summer months and in response they have put an extra patrol in place in the Lucan area. The Council will discuss the issues raised with the Gardaí and possible measures that can be taken to support the policing of the park.
