MOTION NO. 10

MOTION: Councillor E. O'Brien

"That the Chief Executive takes steps to identify a location for a Heritage Centre in Lucan to complement the ongoing work to develop Heritage trails and other works as part of the Village Improvement Initiative."

REPORT:

Schemes in the Villages Initiative have been discussed at all Area Committee Meetings in recent months.  Projects of a complex nature, larger scale and set in more sensitive environments will be exhibited as part of a Part 8 Public Consultation Process from early November onwards.  Some projects have already been commenced and the project will roll out in 2015 and 2016. 

Heritage Walks and Trails will be developed in consultation with local community and historical groups and the County Heritage Officer as part of a Tourism Development Strategy to be developed in 2015.  It is proposed to complete the first phase of village works and agree the overall towns strategy before consideration of the development of localised Heritage Centres begins.  The evaluation of need and identification of possible locations will commence at that time.
