COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
Monday, November 10, 2014
MOTION NO. 11
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
That the Chief Executive seeks immediate suspension of installation of water meters within the County because the supply is unsafe due to Irish Water’s failure to supply tamper-proof meters to each household. Residents are being asked to pay for a food source which is open to contamination. You cannot buy a jar of pasta sauce without a tamper-proof lid on it so the residents of this County deserve the same, most basis safety standard in relation to their water supply.
REPORT:
Irish Water is the now the Water Authority for all matters associated with water and foul wastewater in Ireland. Queries from individual councillors are dealt with via the dedicated Local Representative Support Desk which has been set up for this purpose. For this reason, if a councillor wishes to progress a query, we would ask that you advise him/her to submit same directly to the Local Representative Support Desk where it will be dealt with appropriately. This can be done via email localrepsupport@water.ie or calling 1890 278 278 and asking for the Local Representative Support Desk.
If the motion is passed the terms of the motion will be forwarded to Irish Water and, when received, a copy of the reply will be circulated to the Members.
