QUESTION NO. 1

QUESTION: Councillor D. O'Brien

"To ask the Chief Executive with fundraising started for next years Palmerstown Festival can their grant be increased for 2015?  This festival has been getting bigger year on year and they could do with extra funding?"

REPLY:

The Council provides financial assistance to a wide range of festivals across the county. The Palmerston Festival was allocated €1,500 in 2014.

Work on the overall Council budget for 2015 is ongoing and when completed, consideration can then be given, from within the approved resources, as to how the demands and the additional needs can be evaluated. In this regard, a detailed report of the programmes / expenditures etc for the 2014 festival will be required to assist in any future evaluation. Palmerston will be considered in this regard with all other applications.

The Council's Community Team have considerable experience of hosting festivals / events and will, as usual, be available to assist community groups with all aspects of their planning.
